EmeraldAisle National Car Rental in Maui

Has anyone rented a car from National in Maui and do they offer the Emerald Aisle for Em. Club members? I have two reservations and the first says emerald aisle and the next says counter; a window kept popping up saying that airport does not offer the aisle, only counter. Wonder how my chances are of getting a convertible? I am used to going to the aisle and picking out what is available...can you do that with counter service? BTW, I check the website every now and then for a better rate and tonight it came up at $100 cheaper!

Carol47, I rented from National at Kahului airport last month. I didn't have an Emerald Club card at the time (but I do now; since I used them several times on the islands they sent me a comp one afterwards!). I don't recall seeing an Emerald Aisle there and I don't recall their lot being that large. After picking up our bags, we took a courtesy bus from the terminal out to the lot, and there is an office there where we checked in and took care of paperwork. We were the only ones there and it took less than five minutes.

By the way, I got some decent deals and coupons for National through something called vacationoutlet.com. Found it through rentalcodes.com.

I am an Emerald club member and rented a car in Maui last summer. There was no emerald aisle at that time. We were not able to select our own car, our keys were given to us at the counter and we were told where the car was parked.

The lot is very small, my guess is they have exactly the cars available that have been reserved. If you don't have a convertible reserved, I doubt you will receive one. (It seems like everyone rents convertibles on Maui, and the car rental companies know they don't need to give them away!)

The one good thing is that our rental was processed very quickly, and drop off was efficient as well.

If you have the entertainment card, they offer some decent rates and coupon codes also. For last July, this code was the cheapest we found, plus they have a $20 off weekly rate coupon that can be used to decrease the price a bit more. (If you want to try your dates, the entertainment codes are: coupon number 10008615 and contract ID 5066914)
