Edgewater Beach Hotel

We are planning to spend 4/5 days in Naples relaxing following the first week in Orlando. Any comments on the above hotel would be gratefully rec'd. Thought the beach position looks really nice.

If you want to be IN Naples, not 5 to 10 miles north in Vanderbilt, it is certainly the best possible place on the beach! Nice, small, luxury hotel and yes the beach is nice there. It is still not really "walking distance" to the shops and restaurants of Fifth Avenue South or Third Street South -- and you will probably want a car.

Hello, You might want to try the Hotel Escalante. With Patricks advice, since I do not want to do Naples traffic again, he recommended the Escalante. Have not been their yet, will be in April. The pictures on the internet seem very nice. Give a look! You will enjoy Naples....Kris

Thanks for the info. We have decided to book the Escalante having read the history and our budget wouldn't run to the Registry. Really appreciate your help.

I think you'll be happy there DebW. Be sure to report back here. I keep suggesting Escalante, but haven't had much feedback, so would like to know how happy people are with it.

Patrick - As requested reporting back following our stay in Naples at the Escalante. We arrived and were taken to the standard room which was probably the smallest room we have ever been given in the US so we upgraded and the room was lovely, very comfy and clean, quiet and breakfast by the pool was nice. Although they never put out enough tables as the hotel was pretty full and resulted in taking breakfast on sun loungers but not really a problem. We loved Naples and the position of the Escalante was superb for 5th Ave. Hadn't appreciated how big Naples was and am really pleased we were down town in old Naples. Had good food at Yabba loved the atmosphere, and an OK meal at Verginas but pricey. Had two excellent meals at Riverwalk in Tin City. Originally booked through Virgin but the upgrade cost a further 218 dollars for the five nights. Total cost was 160 sterling pounds per night. Anyway thanks for your help. Couldn't have been a better position for us. Thought Naples was beautiful, so clean and some really serious money around!! Regards DebW

Thanks for the report, Deb W. Ferragamo also reported favorably this week about their stay. Both of you have mentioned small rooms, so I guess I need to mention that point in further recommendations, suggesting an upgrade or a confirmation of a larger room.
