Eaton Lodge, Key West

We have reservations at Eaton Lodge mid-June and were wondering if anyone has stayed here and how they liked/disliked it. We'll be there 6 nights and got a decent rate on the room (Garden Room @ $105/nt) Also, we plan to go snorkeling in the morning one day and we are thinking of using Sunny Days Catamaran (2 reefs). Any pros/cons about Sunny Days? I appreciate any help you can give.

I haven't heard anything about Eaton Lodge, but I wanted to give a recommendation on a snorkeling trip. Javacat Charters (www.keywestkayak.com) was absolutely fabulous! The guide, who also owns the boat that he will take you out on, took us to a beautiful reef called "Sand Key". It was a perfect trip and not crowded at all. In fact, we were the only patrons that day, which was very nice and quiet. He also has kayaks that he will let you take out should you want to do that in addition to snorkel. Enjoy your stay!

My wife and I stayed at the Eaton Lodge a few years ago. We are regular Key Westers, but that was the first time we stayed at Eaton.
We enjoyd it. Very nice and helpful young guy who worked the front desk (and did lots of other things from what we could tell).
the room and bathroom were very spacious and clean and well-appointed.
I highly recommend it.
(Only reason we haven't stayed there since - or before - is because we're addicted to the Gardens Hotel.)

Thanks for replying to my message. I'm glad to hear the Eaton Lodge is nice, it looked good on the web and I did lots and lots of searching. I'll have to look at the Gardens Hotel while I'm there. I live in Ft. Lauderdale, so I'll be going back every now and then. I'll also check out Javacat Charters.

UPDATE ON EATON LODGE:
We stayed in the Garden Room and were not impressed with it at all. We wanted to leave, but figured it would be more of a hassle than staying the other five nights. Besides, it was coming up on the weekend and everyone's rates were going up. The hosts/owners were okay, but not outgoing at all. We got to our rooms from the outside and other than a rather hot and humid cocktail hour, there wasn't any chance to meet others at the house, except at breakfast, which wasn't at all fancy. Store bought danish, Lenders Bagels, toast, english muffins and one brand of cereal. The even asked us to trudge up the 3 steep steps to bring our plates/cups back into the kitchen sink! Not impressed with this place at all. Next time I'll go to The Ambrosia House or one of the other nearby B&B's.
