Dupont Circle to BWI - taxi fare for EARLY Sun am departure?

We need to get from our hotel at Dupont Circle to BWI for a 6.55am flight on Sunday morning. The Supershuttle costs $49 for two, but if a taxi is anywhere close to that, as early as we need to leave, I'd rather take a taxi so we might not have to leave quite so early as with the shuttle. Does anyone know about how much a taxi would run at that time of morning on a Sunday?

Thanks.

Not sure how accurate this website it, but according to it they put the cost at approximately $80.

Would you consider staying at a hotel near BWI before the flight?

You will need to leave the hotel at around 4:30-5:00 to get to the BWI at least an hour before your flight (Southwest, I'm guessing).

The time or day does not impact the taxi fare. Make sure you have a price before you get in the taxi. The hotel should be able to tell you the cost. Last time we took a taxi it was about $65 and that was a year and a half ago.

I would agree about staying near BWI. You could take Amtrak up on Saturday to BWI

The day and time of day do matter in that heavy traffic days and times add time to the journey consequently adding time/cost to the meter.

My hotel was prepaid, non-refundable, so moving to an airport hotel was out. Hotel gave me a taxi rate of $85, so I bit the bullet and resigned myself to booking the supershuttle for $49. In fact, my alarm will be going off in just a little while from now.

Thanks for the replies.
