Dry Torguas overnight

Hey guys,

I've been to Ft. Jefferson twice and want to stay overnight next time.

Anyone ever do it?

Can you go in the fort at night or only on the camp grounds?

Any advice?

Thanks.

Never been there. Park website says the fort interior is open sunrise to sunset.

Well, http://www.nps.gov/drto/planyourvisi...ationsdrto.pdf says

"The fort interior is CLOSED after sunset"

(capital letters in the original).

So you are best off forgetting about trying to get inside after dark, unless you can find a time when the NPS offers a nighttime tour.

Can you say JEALOUS! I say get there early and find a spot under one of the small trees near the beach on the south end. There is a table over there and spectacular views of the open ocean and sunset. I went 2 years ago and didn't spend the night. On my bucket list though. Don't forget your snorkeling gear! I saw barracuda, nurse sharks and parrot fish. Enjoy!!!!
