We're starting in Rapid City, SD and a visit to Mt. Rushmore. Then on to Yellowstone. From there we head north to Glacier National Park. We are only 4-hour a day drivers I'm looking for suggestions on where to spend a day between Yellowstone and Glacier. Next is through Coeur d'Alene Idaho and into Washington State where we want to visit the North Cascades for a couple of days before heading to Seattle. Comments on any in-between stop before the Cascades would also be appreciated. In fact, any suggestions regarding travel, sightseeing, side trips, lodging, dining (all meals)would be welcome. We have 2 weeks, probably the last two weeks in September, 2003. Thank you in advance for all suggestions.

Hello from NW Montana
I'm sure you'll get different opinions on this butIMHO leaving Yellowstone I would drive to Bozeman, spend a couple hours there and head to Helena VIA I15 with a short visit to Butte if you have time.
Overnight in Helena(state capital) then head out Highway 12 to141 to 83 to Glacier Park.
September is a great time to visit Glacier as the crowds should be gone and usually nice weather though that of course is subject to change hourly!
For more on Glacier go to

Come on out to the beautiful Flathead valley . You'll love it.
Hello from the Billings area -I agree with John on the Bozeman visit after Yellowstone, it's a great, easy drive to Bozeman, but from there, I'd cross over to Livingston and overnight in Great Falls rather than Helena. The next day visit the museum in Browning and then enter the Park at St. Mary's
My favorite place on the planet is Glacier Park
