Driving from Stanford to SFO Airport. Need your advice for a romantic dinner along the way.

Will accompany DH on business trip to Stanford (Palo Alto). He will finish approximately 6PM. We will return to Westin SFO Airport for the night to fly out next day. Would love to have a slightly romantic, not overly expensive, somewhat casual dinner together along the way. Where would you recommend? Seafood with a view would be ideal. I had hoped to go to Sausalito, but its quite a drive in the opposite direction. Anywhere south of SFO that compares?

Thanks.

Try Kincaid's Bayhouse in Burlingame. It sits right on the Bay and has a great view.

There are very few restaurants between Palo Alto and the airport that have views. You'd pretty much have to hit Burlingame (which is where Kincaid's is) before you get views, and then most of the restaurants on that side of the freeway are in hotels. If you decide the view ISN'T that important, there are plenty of nice restaurants in Palo Alto, San Mateo, Burlingame and Millbrae. You can search on yelp.com

If you decide that a veiw isn't important, I can make some reccomendations in Menlo Park/Palo Alto area.

Hmmm...If you really want a spectacular view of the Bay Area and don't mind driving an extra 20 or 30 minutes to get it, the Bella Vista up in the trees on Skyline Blvd would be a fun, quaint and romantic choice.

Bella Vista is a nice idea - but it is in a kind of difficult location for non-locals to find, I think.

you posted this twice (and have several answers on both threads)

To find all your posts, click on your name. I agree w/ the posts on both threads about Kincaids. If you look a a map you will see there really is no possibility of a seaside restaurant/water view anywhere between Palo Alto and SFO.

Kincaid's is truly your best bet.

Thanks all. Sorry this posted twice. Didn't seem to post the first time, so tried again and then....bamm, there it was twice.

At any rate, your suggestions are all worthy. A view isn't the most important issue, just thought I'd ask for the moon and see what you could come up with. Bella Vista does sound lovely. I'll try to MapQuest it for directions.

Thanks again.

Carpaccio and Palermo in Menlo Park are good standbys. Kaygetsu, also in Menlo is an amazing Japanese spot with spectacular seafood and high prices.

John Bentley's in Woodside is very nice.

In Palo Alto...As cabo suggested, Evvia and Three Seasons are good. Add to that Tamarine. For upscale digs and good Chinese with an excellent seafood menu try Taipan. Love them! Our favorite standby in PA is Osteria. Try it for no frills Italian that is consistently delicious.

Closer to the Westin SFO, your high-end (very good and higher-priced) restaurants would be Viognier and Lure and 231 Ellsworth in San Mateo, Ecco in Burlingame. If you want seafood, I would probably opt for Lure. Here's a link:

We had a lovely dinner at Evvie in Palo Alto. Delicious food and wine. It is large and just a bit loud, but staff were very welcoming (even though we were 15 minutes late for reservation -- I did phone to warn them). The summer salad of Heirloom tomatos was amazing! Thanks to all for recommendations.

BTW: The Chihuly glass exhibit at the deYoung is also AMAZING! Try to see it if you're in SFO.
