Driving from Springfield, MA to NH July 3rd

Jump to last reply

I'm visiting a friend on July 3rd, taking the Mass Pike from Manchester, NH to Springfield, MA on July 3rd. I'm leaving Manch around 7:30am to get to Springfield around 9:30. I've made this trip a few times so I know the morning drive there isn't bad at all. My worry is the drive back. I usually leave between 2:30 and 3 to get back to NH around 5. On the 3rd, though, how bad is the traffic on the pike (or any highway, really) coming into NH? Can I keep my usual schedule or should I modify it? Thanks!

Also, I usually try to avoid I-93 at all costs, just because I hate that Boston traffic. I'll gladly pay tolls.
