Hi, As part of a road trip in late February we'll be driving between San Antonio and Lafayette, which seemingly takes about 6hrs or so. We want to try and do it in one day, but can anyone suggest which of the towns along the way we should stop at? Maybe for lunch, but not necessarily. Thanks.
Driving from San Antonio Tx to Lafayette.

Depending on what time you leave San Antonio, you can stop in Luling for BBQ . . best in Texas. Luling City Market, about 45 mins from SA.
Be sure to avoid rush hour traffic in Houston ( 6 - 9 AM and 3-7 PM . .
We enjoy the painted chruches in Schulenburg and the historic homes in Gonzales.
I am in Houston regularly. Take the 610 north loop around town. There is construction though downtown. If it is close to the afternoon rush hour or the traffic on the west side seems very heavy, take the Sam Houston Tollway north off of I10. It is farer, but faster.
The churches are nice and worth a stop, but check on distances off the highway. Google Texas Painted Churches for directions and openning times.
Leaving San Antonio in the morning and a morning stop for a chruch or two (some miles off I10) and lunch, you should have no problem getting to Lafayette for dinner. You will be near Houston at lunch time. There are all the normal chain places for miles along I10 both coming into Houston and going out toward Baytown.
Thanks for your replies. I'll copy and paste them to my intinerary and check out the map.
