Driving from Bowling Green,KY to Virginia Beach, VA

In August 2014 we will be participating in the Corvette Caravan. Destination is National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Though we live in Tampa, we want to swing by and see a few out of state friends on our way home. (Oh, what's a couple hundred miles between friends, lol.)

Our longest leg is departing Bowling Green, KY to Virginia Beach, VA. It's an 11 hour drive, so I thought I'd break it up into an overnight trip.

Any suggestions for us to see, or where to stay, that's approximately halfway between the two cities?

Well, half way would be around Charleston WVA or Beckley or such. There are plenty of motels along that route--and it is actually a very pretty drive through the mountains. Then it looks like you REALLY go over the mountains, and not much there--until, of course, you get to White Sulphur Springs!! Always a nice stopover!!
I might be tempted to put in a long day and get on into Virginia--Staunton, or such.

If you have plenty of money, stay at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs. The food is divine.
