Driving Denver to St. Louis

Any quick sight seeing stops from Denver
to St. Louis? We heard of a factory outlet
mall in Colby, KS. What stores are there? We will visit the Eisenhower Center in Abilene. Any estimate on driving times? Sometimes I think Mapquest over estimates times.

Thanks very much!

Hi Sandy we have done that drive several times, but cannot remember exactly how long it takes. Last time hwy 70 was under repair everhwere ti semed and took us an additional 4 hours over the previous time. I think the quickest we have done it is 14 hours. we have dogs so we stop allot.

We stop in Lawerence there is an outlet mall there. We get lunch and eat in in the park. Take some books on tape its a pretty boring drive.

This is a 17 hour trip if you budget in time for reasonable rest stops, meals, and firework purchases. Stop in Prariedog Town and pet the Six Legged steer for me. Other than that, I would drive as fast as I possibly could. It is mind-numbingly long excursion through the flatlands of Kansas, and there's nary a reason on this good earth to stop.

As I remember, there are very few stores left at the outlets in Colby. Lawrence, KS does have much better outlet shopping. I also think there is a good outlet mall east of Kansas City 20 miles or so. The Eisenhower Center is very worthwhile.

I grew up in St. Louis and after graduation took a job in Denver and from my door step in Denver to my family's house in St. Louis I could do the drive in 12 hours but that was only with stops for gas and going through fast food places to eat. It is a very simple but boring drive.
