Hi all,
I've got a B&B booked in Chester on 23rd/24th October.
Been reading on the internet about flood damage in Southern Vermont and it doesn't sound very promising in terms of the roads, though i haven't been able to find out any up-to-date information about Chester specifically.
Is it likely to be easy to get there from Keene, NH without running into any major delays?
And how feasible would it be to spend a day taking a scenic drive to/from Chester?
Plan B would be to cancel the B&B for a small charge and head elsewhere in Vermont with less disruption to the roads. Just not sure what would be a suitable destination.
Any information/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You should have no problem getting from Keene to Chester. All of the roads in and out of Chester are currently open but reportedly subject to delays, which probably means that there are work crews on the ground. I suspect the state is making every effort to get as many roads back to normal as possible before the height of leaf-peeping season.
While I don't think that you'll need to cancel your reservation, I don't live in the area so you might want to contact the B&B directly and see what their predictions about the road conditions are.
I have friends all around the Brattleboro area. The storm really trashed the place. I ADORE Vermont (used to live there) but this is not the time I'd be planning a visit, quite honestly.
