Drive from Lake Winnipesaukee to Portland, ME.
As I've mentioned in an earlier post, my husband and I will be vacationing on Lake Winnipesaukee and then driving to Portland, ME - about a two hour drive on Rt 25.
Does anyone have recommendations for stops to make, detours worth taking, places to have lunch, nice views etc.? And, with 3 days in Portland, if you have any recommendations for day trips, restaurants, walks... I'd appreciate those ideas too. Thanks!

i think we've only done that drive once or twice. Pleasant but very rural.
In south Portland visit Fort Williams Park and Portland light. great placefor picnic with great view of Casco Bay. Bite Into Maine food truck offers five kinds of lobster rolls. Rockland ME is about two hours from Portland. Visit Farnsworth Art Museum or Owls Head transportation Museum and the easy short hike to Owls Head Light. Have steamed lobster lunch at Watermans Beach.

If you like baseball, the Portland SeaDogs are great fun to watch - Double A affiliate of the Red Sox. Good baseball plus all sorts of silliness between innings.
Love Ft. Williams park too.
Harbor tours offer a chance to get out on the water.
