Hi. I am new to this board so please bear with me. My husband, son, and I are traveling to a Vikings game on Nov. 2. We are considering staying over Sat/Sun evening as we are from Wisconsin. I started looking into downtown hotels because my husband is leary about driving to the Metrodome for the game. I have booked Sat/Sun at the Embassy Suites at $161 & $181 because of the location, and availability seems to be getting low. We would like to do other things such as the National Cemetery (parents buried there) and possibly the casino, maybe Nicloet Mall? I have read some bad reviews on the Embassy on other boards...I would certainly consider changing the hotel, and area even, if the drive to the metrodome wasn't a big hassle. Any ideas? I wouldn't mind paying less either, to be truthful. What are your thoughts on the Millenium or Double Tree? Am anxious for any help you can give me. Oh, I forgot there will be 3 of us, so extra person and certainly cost of parking are issues. THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

I stayed at the Embassy for 11 days last year. The hotel is very nice. The rooms are large with a king bed in the bedroom and a sleep sofa in the other room. There was also a mini kitchen. The hotel had a free cooked to order breakfast everyday. The omletes were great. Get there early if you want eggs. There was also a managers reception 2 hours everynight (free booze). The hotel has a parking garage($)but it does fill up on weekends. There was a pool at the hotel but it was small. The location is great for a game and a 2 room suite is great for 3 people.
We stayed in this hotel over Memorial Day Weekend. It was fine. I thought downtown was rather dead and would probably stay elsewhere if I went back but it will probably be more lively during a football game and it is close for the MetroDome. It's an easy walk to Nicolette Mall. We also walked to the Hard Rock Cafe across from Target Center. I always like Embassy Suites because of the living room and bedroom thing. Also had mini kitchen with refrigerator.
