My husband just bought tickets from someone he knows for the Nascar race in Dover, Delaware. We would be arriving on June 6 and leaving the next day. I have search traveocity, expedia, orbitz, lodging.com, hotels.com. I have checked hotel website after hotel website and no availablitiy. Any other suggestions? I don't know what towns are nearby but from what I can tell even they are booked. We live in NJ so if we have to we could drive but the traffic leaving after the race would be unbelievable. Thanks for the help.

While I've not attended a race in Dover my experience at othe race venues shows that all the hotels in proximity of a race track are usually booked a year in advance of any major race. The hotels usually also have 2 or 3 night minimums. Since you are going to Dover only on race day you might consider trying to find a place to stay somewhere between the track and your home. Not sure where in NJ you live but if it's not too far driving home straight home after the race might be your better option.
Years ago when we went to this race we usually stayed on Kent Island area in Maryland at a Comfort Inn. It was a good location about 1/2 way between Anapolis and Dover right on the Chesapeke Bay. I think there's a couple of other places to stay around there. You still may be out of luck for the June race at that location, as we used to make our reservations almost a year in advance, but try. You could also try Salisbury, MD or Anapolis, although these will be quite a drive.
Unless they've done something different, the traffic at the end of the race is horrendous. We started leaving a bit before the race ended to avoid the worst of it.
Good luck!
