We are planning a trip to Door County, WI after reading Midwest Living and it's Norwegian infulence in Ephraim. We have traveled to Northern Michigan many times and wondered how Door County is different from NW Michigan. We love the Petoskey area, are the towns in Door County similar?
Thanking you in advance for any information.

Most of the towns in Door County are much smaller than those on the Lake in Michigan. They seem to be much more "touristy" than Petoskey for example. By that I mean the size and the merchant mix more than anything. Most of the stores are geared to the tourists as opposed to the residents. You'll also find a lot more water access in Michigan with lots more beaches. It all depends on what you like I guess. Door County seemed much less crowded to me than NW Michigan.
