Door County or Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore?
We are driving from a little west of Milwaukee up to Mackinaw Island for a couple of nights, and then down through Michigan, stopping at some of the big sand dunes along the way as we head south. We have two nights to spend between Milwaukee and Mackinaw Island. Should we visit Door County or Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore? Which is more beautiful? Which is more interesting? Is there anyone out there who has visited both, and can compare them for me?

I did a google search for Pictured Rocks... WOW, looks beautiful! I've been to Door County a few times. I've not seen anything quite like the PR park. Much as I enjoy Door County, I think I'd do the Pictured Rocks. Sorry I haven't been to both.

If you want isolated beauty, Pictured Rocks beats Door County by 1.609 kilometers. Note the word "isolated" -- those photos are from places that are not next to a highway!
If you want lighthouses, beaches, and a family-friendly place to relax; choose Door County.
