Several of our 50ish friends like to stay at the Churchill Inn in Sister Bay.

My sisters and I have stayed in a 2 bedroom suite at the Scandinavian Lodge in Sister Bay and we really liked it.

It depends on what you like. Fish Creek is a very popular and extremely busy town with lots of touristy things, many that you can walk to. Sister Bay is a still very busy but not quite as compact.
Door County is a great place for a vacation because it offers many options. There is the western bay side with cities of Sister Bay, Fish Creek, Ephraim which offer many tourist activities, golf courses, and the Penisula State Park with hiking and biking trails. The northern end offers ferry boat rides to Washington Island, fishing, and a totally different atmosphere than the above mentioned cities. The eastern coast on Lake Michigan offers quiet cities, more state parks, less traffic, and scenic coastlines and connecting roads for viewing rural beauty. Door County is not that large so it is possible to drive to various things in the same day, but your spot for accommendations should depend on what you want to see and do--tourist spots, shopping, golf, fishing, quiet hotels with pools, biking or hiking trails. Check the website: www. doorcountynavigator.com for activities, festivals, hotels, lighthouses etc. It shows everything offered in Door County plus reviews and blogs from current visitors. The local produce is especially good with cherries and apples usually very plentiful and delicious in Sept. You will enjoy your vacation!
