Dog and Child Friendly Cabins/Resorts around Pigeon Forge, TN?

Hi,

We're planning to attend an event in Pigeon Forge, TN in April with our 2 boys, ages 2 and 4, and 30 lb dog. The event will be 2 of the days we will be there and will be at the Inn at Christmas Place (one time we will be there at night). The hotel does not take dogs so we need another place to stay. We will be driving so we'll have a car. We were thinking about a cabin rental because I haven't liked any of the hotels I've researched. Plus, we would maybe like to make meals. There are so many cabin rental choices that's it's a little overwhelming. We do not want to be too isolated b/c we just don't feel safe with 2 kids. But we don't want to be on top of our neighbors either. Maybe something in a neighborhood? We would also like to visit Dollywood 1 day and the Smoky Mountains NP. We would also be visiting the Titanic Museum b/c it's part of the event we're going to. If we stay outside Pigeon Forge, what is traffic like driving around these areas? I can look up the miles between but don't know what traffic is like.

We've never been to Pigeon Forge but have driven through Gatlinburg and it looked pretty touristy.

Does anyone have cabin recommendations that are child and pet friendly? We would prefer the kids to sleep on the same level as us but don't know how the cabins are set up. We want them to be in the same room b/c they share one now. Do you have to keep the dog in a crate when you leave them alone in the cabin? Is there a grocery near by?

Any other activities I'm missing? I know it depends on where we stay, but do you have any restaurant recommendations?

Thanks for any help.

Most hotels and cabins do offer pet friendly units. Check with these.

(This is info I copy from another post about the area)

Hi we have used Timber Tops,Alpine Chalet Rentals,Diamond Mountain Rentals,ERA in The Smokies,Auntie Belhams and Jackson mountain homes. All the cabins we rent are close to town with a beautiful mountain/city view. I will put the links down below. How many bedrooms will they need? We always rent 2,3,4 bedroom cabins. ERA has a nice 3 bedroom named 'City Lights' very close to downtown and Timber Tops 'Always a View' is close and Alpine Chalet has one called 'Rippling Water'. Let me know how many bedrooms and price range and I can put the links up to some. I know the area very well as we come to the area 3-4 times a year or more. All of these companies have a very good rating with the BBB and the cabins are always nice and clean. Gatlinburg is a walking town but not too many cabins within walking distance but are less than 1/4 mile of the main strip. Now Pigeon Forge is bigger but more spread out and you pretty much have to drive everywhere. You can park and ride the trolley in the area for I think 50 cents. Make sure you go into the park and go up to Cades Cove and drive through Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. You will see lots of wildlife like Deer,Bears,Elk,etc. Pigeon Forge has alot of things to do for families like go karts, putt putt golf etc. You can also ride the Tram up to Ober Gatlinburg. There is a ice skating rink,Chair Lift,Alpine Slide and kiddie rides up there and the views are beautiful. You can also ride over the mountain and check out Cherokee,NC and catch a show called Unto These Hills. There is a ton of things to do and see all over the area. Make sure you request info to be sent to you so you can plan ahead and get some great coupons. Just let me know how many bedrooms and price range your looking at and I can recommend lots of cabins to check out. I also have a ton of pictures of cabins we have stayed in so you can get an ideal what to expect. Have a wonderful trip and be safe.

Yes I can truly understand how overwhelming it can be searching for cabins in the Smokies but when you find the right one it is easy to see why they're so popular.

My wife and I have stayed in some great ones but never had the need for a pet friendly cabin but there are plenty.
Below are some links you might find helpful.
Wish you all the best!
