Does this itinerary sound reasonable? (north of SF)
Hello,
We're going to be in San Francisco for a week and then I'd like to take the kids up north. Does this path sound reasonable to you?
SF to Calistoga
Stay overnight, probably at Indian Springs.
Explore the town, the kids will easily spend all day swimming in a warm pool.
Then Calistoga to Santa Rosa
See the Children's Museum, stay one night at Safari West
Stop at Old Faithful, maybe Petrified Forest.
Then Santa Rosa to Guerneville
Stay overnight, visit Armstrong Redwoods
Guerneville to Bodega Bay
Stay overnight
Bodega Bay to Inverness
Stay overnight, explore Pt. Reyes
Then back to San Francisco.
What do you think? Thank you!

I know nothing of any Petrified Forest or Old Faithful in California.
There is a nice HI hostel at Point Reyes. http://www.norcalhostels.org/reyes

Had to look both of those things up. Not my thing, but interesting. Closer to your trip, you may want to call Old Faithful and ask how often it is erupting- one of the reviews mentions frequency depends on rainfall, so drought may be an issue depending on when your trip is.

Thanks. That's a good idea. Worst case, we pet some goats and leave. In any event, does the path itself sound reasonable? Anything we're overlooking? Any place that merits a longer stay? Anything seem out of order?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

You might find a fun place to stay along the Russian River in Guerneville after visiting Armstrong woods. The kids could go swimming in the river. The next morning, I'd drive through Bodega and on towards Inverness and stay there. Sounds like a fun trip. There is also the Snoopy Museum in Santa Rosa.
