Does Louisiana Have Any Weakneses????

I'm doing a marketing report on Louisiana Tourism and was wondering if you have ANY complaints about the state and what you think needs do be improved. Anything about anywhere in the state will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your help.

The highways are awful....that would really be my only complaint. The French Quarter can also get a little grimy, but it would be next to impossible really to do anything about that considering the foot traffic and the nature of the place (bars, bars, and more bars, not to mention the strip bars and sex shops!)

Garbage. Everywhere. The highways are full of it, the backroads are worse. The French Quarter is of course always disgustingly dirty and smelly. I don't think much can be done about the French Quarter, however. Pollution around Baton Rouge is awful, water and air. I love the food there, but that is about the best I can say about my visits to the state.

Hey, guys--I take offense! I came here to Lafayette, Louisiana, from Niagara Falls, New York in early 1979 (remember Love Canal?). Let me tell you, it looks and smells a lot cleaner than that here.
I visited Niagara Falls again about two years ago and I still found it much cleaner here than there. Right now, you couldn't get me to move anywhere, unless it had a few mountains. The mosquitoes around Lake Ontario in the summer are worse than the ones we have here--we just have them all year! The interstates are free--in the Northeast you have to pay for them--and I don't think the roads are so bad. Yes, it's very hot and muggy in June, July and August, but the rest of the year is beautiful--my sister from near Woodstock, NY, visited me last January and the temperature was nearly 70 every day and sunny--she thought I lived in paradise! And in South Louisiana, you don't find many rednecks--this is French Catholic country. Don't knock it--come to Lafayette and visit Cajun country! Here, it's "laissez les bon temps roulez" (let the good times roll).

I agree with the last contributor (and can't help observing that most of the critics are NOT residents). I'm eleven years into my THIRD tour here in Louisiana (total years of residence 19)and I'm glad I had the good sense to leave Indiana where--for the last three years before I left--the temperature on Christmas Day was 25 degrees below zero.
Recently I had to have serious emergency surgery and found the medical personnel and accommodations at my local hospital OUTSTANDING. Add to that the warm care and concern I got from my friends and neighbors. I may not be a native Louisianian but I'm a convinced resident. I think the place is TERRIFIC (but too many people are already coming to my area--so if all you see is garbage do stay home). Joan

I lived in NO for about a year and a half. The cockroaches were really big. My car was hit twice from behind while I was there after not having had an accident in over 20 years. I received a $900 price quote for a brake job. Otherwise, I had a great time, enjoyed the people, and always look forward to going back from time to time.

cockroaches-AKA palmetto bugs. Very large and they talk. Step on one and it will say "Crunch" and walk away.
