Does Hotel St Marie (N.O.) smell bad?
I booked 3 rooms at Hotel St Marie in FrQtr, and recently saw a couple of web comments that the room smelled like smoke, or the room had 'a smell'.
Our stay is in June, so I have time to change if the smelly situation is true/common.
I want to stay near FrQtr and within walkable area of main N.O. attractions, within a reasonable budget ($100-130 room).
So - is Hotel St Marie acceptable, or does it smell? Thanks.

That was helpful, CF...NOT! A few blocks of Bourbon smell at times but the rest of the city "smells" much like its U.S. counterparts, except when things are blooming and it smells BETTER!
As for St. Marie, can't help you there.

Well, I'm leaning now towards choosing a hotel -not- in the French Qtr, but within walking distance (or on streetcar route). . . Trying to ensure a pleasant experience for my dad, my sister, and my niece (and myself, too).
Don't want smokey or musty smelling rooms; guess I'll have to trust those other posts I saw (not here)...
thanks.

Maybe try booking another hotel in the French Quarter if you're worried. You really don't want to be crossing Canal St. at night. There are plenty of nice places in the Quarter and I think you'll enjoy staying there instead.

Check hotels in FQ, I believe June thru August they have special summer rates. I think it's called the French Quarter Fling Rates. Royal Sonesta has nice rooms at that time for around 119.00 a night, but you have to ask for them.

I checked www.180096hotel.com and found numerous hotels in New Orleans in June within your budget that were in the FQ:
Maison Dupuy at $96/night
Chateau Sonesta $110
Dauphine Orleans $90
Holiday Inn FQ $96
Shouldn't have any problem finding a good hotel in June right in the middle of the FQ.
