Does anyone know anything about the Bayliss Guest House in Miami?
Does anyone know anything about the Bayliss Guest House in Miami? I just went on their site and theyre offering 60$ per room per night and thats including a kitchen which I think is an incredible value for Miami in March. It's 3 blocks away from Ocean Dr. but I think that's still great.
So does anyone know anything about this hotel??.. because I think thats just too good of a deal .

You're going to have to be more patient....
It's actually four blocks to Ocean Drive and the beach, across both Collins and Washington. It's a tiny guest house, no-frills but with large rooms, very few parking spaces. I doubt it would suit your purposes well (what happens when their lot fills and you're driving around for hours looking for parking?), but if you're hell-bent on staying in South Beach on the cheap, you can probably do worse.

Remember that ALL South Beach lodging prides itself on being gay-friendly, and they all target that market. Those "guest houses" do sell more aggressively to the LGBT market, so caveat emptor. Indeed, they might not allow kids under 18.
The "gay-friendly" thing wouldn't bother me in the slightest (then again, I don't have kids), but its overall "no-frillsness" would. Especially if I must have parking available. It's located in a pretty residential part of South Beach, so street parking may be permit-only.
I'm with Go, by the way: Anything in High Season in South Beach under $150 a night would set off warning sirens for me. Especially less than 2 weeks from my arrival date.

Ft. Lauderdale would probably be much more feasible there are a few nice properties there. There's a Marriott, Sheraton, Radisson, Riverside Hotel is nice as well (not on beach though). Have you considered other parts of Florida: Amelia Island, Destin, Clearwater/Tampa, Seaside? Seaside and Amelia Isalnd are Charming and have many condos and houserentals.

Obviously there will be more gay couples than families. And my children will definitely stare are the gay couples. I know that it's rude, but they just won't be able to help it. I'm not trying to be rude or anything. I think it would just be better for us to stay elsewhere since there are thousands of different hotels in the area. I wouldn't want me and my kids to get into any trouble, where my kids would make them feel uncomfortable by their starring or something like that...Its just not everyday that you see a gay couple walking through your neighbourhood. you know?

joanna, a friendly bit of advice.
Go to Sunny.org and check out motels in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.
Most motels there are the apartment type efficiency with a full kitchen or kitchenette with a sitting area.
Less expensive than South Beach.
More family friendly than South Beach.
Free parking.
All are either oceanfront or right across the street from the beach with heated pools.
You can walk to lots of shopping and dining.
Do some research, pick several motels with vacancies, and post back.
I really want to help you because I know this is very imporatant to you but you are sucking the life out of me.
Honestly, in your situation, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea would be a much better option that Ft. Lauderdale or Miami Beach in particular, South Beach.

well your children will plenty of opportunities to stare in Sobe then. We are a full fledged melting pot. That includes many cultures and sex prefernces. It is part of what makes Miami what it is. Some of us love it and others don't. So in some instances it is not for everyone!

keli22o, I'm not saying I have anything against Miami. My kids and I love Miami. That's why were going there again this year. Why would we go this year if we didnt like it last year? Its an amazing city. Its a normal beach with many lively people. I love that about Miami. Its just that I've never come across a gay person in Miami which could probably seem very unusual to you.. But it's true. The streets are lined with expensive cars, pretty restaurants, and young people, which is awesome.
