Ditz for stay'n at the Ritz
While the hotel is architecturally beautiful, we encountered nothing but problems from the moment we checked in. We had reserved a "Club Floor Suite" for $399/nt. I contacted the concierge and requested to have roses in the room for our arrival since it was Valentines day. When we arrived we were given a suite on the 11th floor. When questioned I was told that there was only 1 suite /floor and that it was still considered a"Club Suite" since we were given access to the Club on the 30th floor. When we got to our room, there were no flowers. I was told the maid had taken them out and they would find them. About 45 minutes later they arrived with an apology but that was it. Like another poster here the rooms are next to the elevators and it is VERY annoying. ( I can't belive that they woul give these to their higher paying guests!) On the second day we went out for the day and when we returned, our flowers were gone! The maid had taken them out again!!! After complaining, a new set of roses was delivered, but again with only an apology. I have stayed in other Ritz' and this does not even come close. Stay somewhere else!

Our stay at the Ritz in Philly was not so hot either. They gave us our room and when we got there it wasn't totally cleaned. There were candy bar wrappers, empty shopping bags etc.The old Ritz over on 17th was much better - everything about it was better.

I am so surprised to hear this about the Ritz. I have stayed there 3 times in the last two years and never had a problem. Stayed on club floor each time and the service was excellent. I second GoTravel's suggestion, definitely right a letter. I have to say that while we love the Ritz hotels and have stayed at 4 of them, we stayed at the Four Seasons in Philly in January and they do have a slight edge over the Ritz as far as service. The hotel is older and some of the rooms could use some renovations, but the service and the food were better than the Ritz.
