disney world orlando
Hi all I don,t know anything about the Disney area at all.
What I need to know is about lodging. My son is staying in Disney at the Carribean Beach near the Avoct and we would like to stay outside Disney but be able to walk to an entrance near them if possible. If possible we would like to spend no more then 50.00 dollars per night. If not on the Avcot side of the park is there transporation inside the park to get from one side to another and whats the cost?
Thanks

Will you be purchasing park tickets for yourselves, or just hoping to enter their hotel near Epcot for a visit?
What time of year is your visit? Disney has onsite hotels that go as low as $65 some months of the year.

Yes we will be purchasing a two or three day pass but my son and family bought a week package. We are planning on staying September 23rd to the 27th. We are on a limited budget to make this happen .I was quoted 31.00 per night at a Days Inn East but they say its 2.5 miles out from the east side of the park. I don,t know if this is to far from my son or not. They also say free shuttle to park but I,ve heard the shuttle is very limited when it comes and goes. I will have a rental car and don,t know if I can get into my sons resort and park there or not. We are not neccassarly a resort people but need just a safe decent play to bath and lay our head at night. Thanks so far!

Tbirdman, when Walt Disney built Disneyworld, he made certain that any non-Disney hotels would be a long, long way from his theme parks and hotels. If you go to google maps and put disney world carribbean beach in the search box, you'll get a map that will show you the area. Disney is very roughly in the area between Osceola Parkway to the south, I-4 to the east, and WinterGarden Vineland road going northwest. I think the closest hotel outside the Disney property that you could get would be in the Lake Buena Vista area.

Disney World is enormous - and there's no way you can walk from an outside hotel into the parks - it;'s miles. The best you will be able to get in a hotel outside the park that provides shuttle buses into the park - and this is generally the more expensive ones. Or - you have to pay for the shuttle bus.
$50 per night is very low unless you're talking one of the least expensive chains off season - and you don;t say when you're traveling.
I would search kayak.com for your dates to see what's realistic - but do check if the hotel has any transport to Disney (most people rent cars).
Also have a look at the Disney web sites maps - and also maps of Orlando to get some perspective on distances.

You will have to pay to park your car at the parks. Look into the Disney budget hotels on site. It may be less expenxive than paying for an off site hotel + parking.

Disney world is HUGE and as other posters stated walking to the park is not an option. Your best bet and the most for your money is to stay at a value resort, which is on site. The busses run regulary and will be the most convenient for you and you will get the most for your money since you will not have to pay to park everyday. I wnet on the disney webiste for you and the value resort rate is $82.00 per night, however there is a website www.mousesavers.com. There you will find "codes" to use when making reservations. There is a code for your dates. The code is FDV and it will bring your rate down to $62.00.
ALso when on www.disboards.com there is a board for budget travel where you will find many money saving tips.
The only other thing I can tell you is to bring very comfortable walking shoes. This is not the place for flimsy flip flops. We have walked 10 miles in a day. Epcot is tremendous (and lots of fun). Have a great trip!
