Disney-Universal-Orlando

Taking my grandson age 16 to Orlando for 3-4 days. I hate the rides but he loves them. Suggestions for hotels restaurants and Disney and/or Universal activities greatly appreciated

At 16, he would probably enjoy Universal more than Disney. Stay at the Universal hotels for better access to the rides (1-2 days for the Universal parks). Spend 1 day at SeaWorld for a day you can both enjoy. Go to WDW for 1 day and go to Epcot and MGM Studios (you can take a quick boat ride between these parks).

for sure stay at one of the Universal Hotels; your room key gives you *go the the head of the line* access to all rides. We stayed at the Hard Rock a couple years ago w/our 2 teens, loved the music they play. but it was so easy to access everything at Universal and the room rate was reasonable. and for teens, Universal is it! they have great rides. our kids only other interest was Blizzard Beach water park and the roller coaster at Sea World. We did spend a day at Discovery Point, which is owned by Sea World and is really lovely. seemed expensive for 4 of us, but we all talk about our day there & how nice it was. lots of snorkeling & sea rays, dolphins.

He would love the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal. It's an easy walk to the parks from there. Universal is so easy to navigate---no need for a car at all.
Go to www.disboards.com and scroll down to the Universal Forums for great info.

Definately Universal over Disney despite being a huge Disney fan. I spent a week on business at the Royal Caribbean Resort which is a Universal property. Large resort, large pool, great food (Emeril's new restaurant is in the resort), easy access to City Walk and parks.

The previous poster meant the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal. It is a very nice property, as are all three of the Universal Hotels. Your grandson would probably like the Hard Rock Hotel best and it is the shortest walk to the parks. If you go to universalorlando.com, they are offering a multi-day, mutil-park ticket for $85 per person. That is a great deal.

Definitely stay onsite at one of the Universal Hotels for the front-of-the-line privileges. That is the best perk EVER!

The FOTL pass for Universal is great. But if only he will be riding the big rides, then you could opt to stay somewhere between Disney and Universal. He can use the single rider line at most of the big rides to speed through. I would suggest splitting your time between Islands of Adventre/Univeral and a park you might enjoy more (Epcot? Seaworld).
