Disney Hotel. Which should we book?

I am torn between Animal Kingdom, Port Orleans Riverside, Boardwalk, and Caribbean Beach resort.

The reason mostly b/c there is only one pool at Animal Kingdom.......

The rest have multiple pools. My family of 4 will need a break one day and in the evening I can see the pool being a big hit.

But, Animal Kingdom has the animals. help. Any advice?

Animal Kingdom and Boardwalk are deluxe hotels, Port Orleans and Caribbean are moderate hotels. If you can afford a deluxe I would go for it. Animal Kingdom has animals and a pretty nice pool. Boardwalk has easy access to Epcot and Studios. You need to decide what is important. If you want the best pool go with the Yacht/Beach club.

Did you find it that difficult to get to the park from Animal Kingdom. I see people complain.

The Boardwalk area is great for getting to the parks. There is the Friendship boat to the Studios and Epcot and bus to Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. We found it much easier there than when we stayed at Caribbean Beach and taking those VERY crowded buses.

Animal Kingdom Savannah rooms are wonderful, seems like the animals are close enough to touch. The shuttle bus means a little wait, but not too bad. In addition, Boma and Jiko restaurants are wonderful, one a buffet, one sit down. And next time we want to do the behind the scenes tour at AK.

I have no idea what the pool is like at the other hotels but the pool at the AK is VERY nice and big. I loved the AK. We stayed with aunts who drive down JUST to stay on the Club level of the AK - and never leave the hotel. Lucky for us, we had a great place to stay in their suite. Service is fabulous. The pool is gorgeous. Not sure what the complaints about the shuttle buses might be. LOVE the AK and as said, the restaurants are very good. I would be happy to return.

The reason the other resorts have multiple pools is because they are so big and sprawling. Most deluxe resorts are smaller, and none has multiple pools. But they are all magnificent, including the one at Animal Kingdom (pools at deluxe resorts, that is). For me the trade off with Animal Kingdim Lodge is the distance from most of the parks, especially the Magic Kingdom. It's the one deluxe resort where having a car helps. But you should ALWAYS take buses to the Magic Kingdom. It's a huge time saver.

I would choose the Boardwalk Inn because it is only a five minute walk to Epcot. I love being able to go back to the hotel in the afternoon and then stroll back to Epcot in the evening to have dinner. So nice! Also, you can take a boat to the Disney Studios. If you really want a great pool, you should consider the Beach Club/Yacht Club Resort (also walkable to Epcot and across the lake from the Boardwalk Inn). The Beach Club/Yacht Club has what many consider to be the best pool (Stormalong Bay) on Disney property.

I agree with a previous poster that even if you have a car, take the Disney bus to the Magic Kindom. Much easier.

Have fun!

Does anyone know about the Omni Hotel Championsgate? Is it too far from Disney World?

It's 11 to 16 miles from the Magic Kingdom.

Thank you, starrs! We will be in Florida for an event that takes place at Omni Hotel, so I was just wondering if we need to move hotels if we wanted to check out Disney World or other attractions. I guess I will need to do more research. I just posted a new thread about the hotel and the trip, in general. If you have any other input, please feel free to share. Thank you again!

Have stayed at the club level at both Yacht Club and Animal Kingdom. AK is really my favorite but I missed being able to walk to Epcot in the evening.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is our favorite!

In the future when I have children I would lean towards Grand Floridian or Polynesian to be able to come and go from the parks a little quicker.

AKL2 The animals are fantastic. The one pool is spacious and pleasant. Transportation is tolerable for these benefits.

CB has long walks to a food court that is overwhelming with kiddies and crowds.

Boardwalk is walking distance to EPCOT and a short boat ride to Studios, but feels to me that you are in a room above a mall.

POR is small scale CB, but if you can afford deluxe, is worth it.
