Disney contemporary resort in February
We are thinking of the contemporary. Got a room for $175 per night (including taxes), but I've seen rooms for as low as $69 off Disney property. What do you guys think? Disney discontinued their early admissions to the parks, so that's no longer a reason to stay on site. Opinions please.

My own feeling is that the convenience of being on property, especially in a location where the monorail is right there, is worth the expense. Even if the early admissions is off, it's really nice to not have to worry about where you've parked your car, and for easy returns to the hotel if you get tired, or want to rest up before evening, etc. Once you're off property, I can't imagine shlepping back for dinner or fireworks or whatever. If you're there, you're there. If price is not your upper most concern, I'd say enjoy the convenience of on-property.

Try the Swan and Dolphin resorts. Great location on the boardwalk, slightly upscale, convenient for transit and we bokked for beginning of December recently getting rates of $99/night.
BTW - What is this about disney discontinuing early admission? Is this new? I had not heard about -please let me know where I can get info.

I don't know if other readers have had a similar experience, but we had friends who have stayed at the Contemporary and said because of the monorail running throught it, it could get VERY noisy, even in the early morning. We have stayed off-property at the Homewood Suites and were very impressed. It was only a little over a mile from Disney.

I would definately stay at a monorail resort with a 3 year old. You will want to return to the room for naps when crankiness sets in. And I would agree with the recommendation to stay in a garden wing room. It makes it very easy to get to the pool and they tend to be quieter. I liked the Contemporary - it is less "themed" than the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian but the rooms were quite large, there was a very handy fast food restaurant, the pool was fun even if slightly standard looking. You also can take the boats to the Wilderness Lodge which is beautiful and has a nice casual restaurant where they really entertain kids. All in all the Contemporary has some real strong points and the rate you've got isn't bad. I'd stay right where you are.

We loved the Contemporary - stayed there with the whole family 2 years ago. It is very convenient to the Magic Kingdom, which is where you will spend the bulk of the time with a 3 year old. You can walk to the park, and then hop on the monorail to get home. The garden wings are great, large rooms, and the pool is fun and kid friendly. Definately go to thecharacter dinner at the Contemporary (I forget the name) - it's a good buffet, not too expensive, and your kid will get to sing and play with mickie, minnie, pluto, donald duck etc.
