Disney Boardwalk vs Animal Kingdom Resort?

Planning a trip for two adults for five days to Disney in January. We have stayed at the Carribean, Yacht/Beach Club,Swan, Coronado Springs. Love to eat dinner at Epcot. Love to see the animals. Prefer quite and cozy. Under consideration are the Boardwalk and Animal Kingdom Lodge. Thoughts/comments please. Thank you

Neither of these is quiet or cozy, but I love Animal Kingdom lodge even though it's a bit isolated. A Savannah-view room is mandatory, though.

I've stayed at both. Totally would pick the Boardwalk between these two.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is beautiful, tres elegant. It's decore is on the dark side, and its location is the most unfavorable in Disney FL, IMHO. It is the only place where we constantly were waiting for transport and went such distances that we felt like we were commuting. All the others have much more frequent bus/boat/ferry (other Disney transport connections).

There is a good restaurant at AK, but no coffee pot in the rooms at all. Access to a quick cup in the morning is room service or a walk (long in our case) away. Our room was rather on the small side for the price in comparison to other Disney choices. The room service was slow and our choices were half cold in the morning, but the appetizers from the main restaurant were delicious and hot through room service in the late evening.

But the biggest consideration, I think, is that the access to EPCOT is not equal at all. You can access from Broadwalk with multiple dining options etc. or just for a drink at higher end places etc. -much, much easier. Also seeing laser shows etc.

The other thing I did not like about AK- was that it was the highest proportion of couples with 1 or 2 very small tots outside of the family camping grounds or All Sports etc.

Swan and the others you have stayed in already are NOT like this proportion. It was a little like Chuckie Cheese at breakfast time with that many proportional babies/tots to adults. Lots and lots of crying etc. when I was there. Not quiet can be noisy, but this was MORE than that. We even had crying babies at dinner.

Animal Kingdom is an amazing resort and I love eating at Boma. Jiko gets great reviews too,

Boardwalk has the advantage of access to so many restaurants just right in the Boardwalk / Beachclub area. I don't like the Boardwalk pool - much prefer the Beachclub's.

You might save a little $ renting Disney Vacation Club (DVC) points for the Boardwalk. There is a DVC forum on www.disboards.com - we've done this and it has gone well. Your best savings will be for weekdays though.

Hey, there is an idea - why don't you stay at both? Disney will move your luggage over for you. Do two days at one and 3 at the other.
