I posted this in the lounge a couple of days ago. Adu posted that there are some people in the US forum who might know, so giving it a try.
I want to give my son-in-law tickets to Porgy and Bess for his birthday. His birthday is 3rd August so would like to send the tickets to him by that date. However they are not back in NYC until Aug 25th after a cruise ship gig.
The day I am looking at is Tuesday 28th August but other days in September would work. Broadway Box discounts run out on the 26th August, and other promo codes run out the 5th August. Do you think there will be more discounts after these dates.
I am looking at orchestral seating which is quite expensive at full price. Any suggestions on how to get cheaper tickets.
Discounts on Porgy and Bess Broadway tickets.

This is a good news/bad news response. The good news is that there probably will be future discount offers. The bad news is that they probably won't be available until mid to late August!
PS: What you might do is call up the discount offer number for the August 26th one and ask if you can get the discount for August 28th. It's happened successfully in the past with some discount offers.
Thanks Howard. The weird thing is I thought I found a code that worked the other day, I was ready to buy, then I saw that even though on the seating plan the seats were next to each other, but the numbers were two apart. I wondered whether that was normal. I went out of that page, and now I can't remember which code worked. Maybe I had the wrong date the previous time. It is very frustrating. I can't ring as I am in NZ but will see if there is an e-mail contact.
the odd numbering thing is not unusual. Particularly if they are in a side section. Often one side is odd numbers and the other side is even numbers. So seats 103 and 105 would be next to each other. Usually though the center section is consecutive numbers.
As NeoPatrick said, they are next to each other. In the Richard Rogers theatre (where Porgy and Bess is playing), in the side sections, all the even numbers are on one side and odds on the other. Center section are consecutive.
Also, just to note: I would avoid buying tickets for Wednesday evenings. Audra McDonald (Bess) does not perform Wednesday nights, and if possible, she is not to be missed!
Thanks Neo and Beth it is good to know that they seat numbering is correct. Now just to go and find the code I had the other day!!!
Here are the two discount codes for the show: PBBXWB (from broadwaybox.com) and PBPBWB (from playbill.com).
Use either one.
Thanks Howeard those codes don't work after 26th August 2012. I have kept searching though and found s aite that said if you put in NYTIX in the promo code you will get discounts. It seems to work, orchestra seats for $ 97.50 instead of $ 139.50 which is acceptable to me.
DSIL is a musician and put on Porgy and Bess here in Wellington a few years ago. He and other musicians from Massey university played the music, he did a lot of the arrangements. He is going to love seeing the Broadway show.
Sorry for the spelling mistake in your name Howard. Also should be site not aite!!!
Hey, no problem with the misspelling, as long as it wasn't "Howeird"!
I'm curious: When you write that the codes didn't work, were you doing it on line or on the phone?
Online, I live in New Zealand so phone wasn't an option.
OK, that explains why you had no chance to get the expiring discounts. Unfortunately for you, the chances of being able to use an expired offer come only when you either call or go to the box office.
They keep talking about the executors of the estate -- presumably a team of paid lawyers. I at least have some respect for Michael Jackson who must have known that none of his family members could ever be capable of being executor of his will and estate. Too bad so much money is going to the attorney's, but in this case -- it seems that's a good thing.
Sorry for that above. I was responding to an entirely different question and then it appeared here after taking nearly three minutes for it to post. What's going on with this site -- I hadn't even opened this thread in ages?
