OK - I don't want to get flamed, and maybe I am just not smart enough to figure it out - but does anyone else find the disboards totally confusing? The site seems way too intense for the casual tourist. Fodors is so easy to search, easy to read (no jumpy, cute, icons, no cute pictures). It is almost like everyone at the disboards have taken a disney pill and never come down from the high. I don't feel like I get a good critique of attractions,etc. Is there a trick to maneuvering around the site that I missed? I have given up, and am sticking with this forum before my head explodes.

Donna: I planned an upcoming trip to Disney using Fodorites assistance... there were many links they also recommended, and I went to, including Disboards,, but like you I was just drowning in too much information !!

I liked that on Fodors, if someone made a rec or didn't like a place, I could go back and forth with questions easier and made all my plans based on their recs. - it was easier to discuss if the reason they did not like a place might be exactly why it would appeal to my family or vice versa.

I ended up making my final rezzies thru Disney, and got the same price as some of the links I checked, and am pleased w/ the way our arrangements have worked - but will know for sure after our visit in January !

Some boards are easier to navigate than others, and of course, you always have to remember you are reading opinions, which vary - but at least here people are kind enough to post back additional thoughts and really go out of their way to assist.

So yes, I too found Disboards a bit confusing/too much info/overwhelming, - but I did scope it out -

As with any of the mega boards (www.CruiseCritic.com www.Disboards.com ) you really need to spend a day or two reading and navigating.

Some people don't have that kind of time and that is fine.

I agree there are a lot of Disnuts (thanks Nina, I love that term!) on that board and they are too annoying.

Thanks Escargot - I did read the responses to your question when you posted and they were very helpful, as were the responses to the questions I posted. Disnuts - now I don't feel so bad. I can't imagine being that overboard for any place and I have really loved many places I have been.

If you are planning a trip, you'll just need to go to these parts of disboards:

1. Theme Park Attractions and Strategies

2. Resorts

3. Restaurants

I found the Disboards to be very helpful when I first visited Disney World. I also only visit select sections of the boards. I also set my preferences NOT to show all the avatars, etc. I really found the Disboards useful for trips to Universal in Orlando.

Hey, don't diss Disnuts! The first(and only) time DH and I went to Disneyland we went with friends who are Disnuts. They had us on Main Street before opening. Took us to the most popular rides first, and made our lunch reservation without a hitch. The wife was able to look at a line and decide if it was short enough or if we should try another ride and come back. It was great! We spent very little time standing in lines. A Disnut guide can be very handy.

My advise to friends who are planning WDW trips is to check out allearsnet.com first. Its easy to navigate and a great source of info. Lots of pictures of the hotels (including the toilets in the rooms in some cases). Lots of menus for the restaurants.

Then if they have any questions that need answering go to the disboards. mousesavers is great for discount info.
