It is always wise to make a reservation, and it is almost always appropriate to go dressy casual to a restaurant. Very few establishments require tie and jacket these days.

Enjoy.

I'm not a fan of the big "block-o-beef" restaurant. I figure I can cook beef rare at home.

Anyway, I took my brother and his wife to the Shula's in Indianapolis about a year ago. You could show up in dress shorts and a polo shirt and be fine. That's for the men. Women can get away with amazing less in the wardrobe department.

Reservation for a Monday night? Only if there's Monday night football on!

Seriously though, it never, ever hurts to have a reservation.

I haven't been personally but the Zagat guide says "...for tourists who don't know NY has better options..." It doesn't get a bad score, it's just not NY's best. Del Frisco, Ben Benson and Keen's are steakhouses in the theater district with better food.

I agree with happytrails, it's always best to have a res. and dressy casual works almost anywhere although on a weeknight these steakhouses may tend to get a business crowd so you'll likely see men in suits but you don't have to be. I would guess Shula's would be more casual b/c it's in the hotel.

I like Ben Benson's but Keen's is a historic place (1885) with an unusual old world feel. Have a look at
keenssteakhouse.com Ben Benson is more modern.
