Dining at CIA in Hyde Park

We will be visiting in October. When do reservations open up? All I can find on the website is that now is too soon. Is it 3 months in advance? Or less?

Also, which restaurant do you like best? We are leaning toward the Italian as best reflecting our taste, but we will have just been to Italy so perhaps should try something different.

By experimenting with various dates, the opentable reservation system will only take reservations starting about 60 days before the date you prefer.

I haven't been in awhile, but all of the restaurants are a great bargain, considering their level of food, but don't expect great service, considering that these are students learning how to serve.

Several years ago, we had a terrific lunch at the Apple Pie café at the CIA (no reservations - order at a counter, and then they bring the food to your table). The food was fabulous, the service, not so much (including bringing a dessert before the main course).

Were there recently at American Bounty with a group of 10. No problem with service and very good food.

When we left, the line up at Apple Pie Cafe was really long. Would not want to wait in that line. Better to have reservations at one of the restaurants.

Another time we had lunch at St Andrews Cafe and after a tour of the school, which being a foods teacher I thought was very interesting, had a late dessert and coffee at Apple Pie and that was fine without a wait. Not even sure if St Andrews is still there.

Sorry can't help you with when reservations open.

We recently ate at American Bounty. Both food and service was wonderful. You would not have known they were "students".
We also went on a tour of the school which was very interesting.
The line for Apple Pie Café went all the way down the hall the entire time we were there. It is worth it to make a reservation at one of the table service restaurants.
