Detroit to Redwood/San Francisco Road Trip Help Please

Jump to last reply

We are planning a 2 1/2 week road trip at the end of June from the Detroit area to Calif. Our main points of interest are the Redwood, San Francisco, and Yosemite. Should we go to Redwood National Park or can we stay closer to San Francisco to see the trees? I would also like to see Big Sur and Monterey Rey, (John Steinback fan would like to see cannery row.)

Has any one had any experience with San Francisco Tours? They pick you up at your hotel and take you back in the evening. We will have our car, and would like to leave it parked at the motel while in San Francisco to avoid driving in traffic and the paking fees.

This was a spu of the moment trip so are in a crush to make hotel reservation, which is why I would like to stay outside of the city and have a tour company pick us up.

Any thoughts and ideas is greatly appreciated!
