Delacado resort????

Hi, I am looking for a little bay side resort and came across The Delacado and the Malyn, has anyone been to these or know anything about them? Are they near highways? How close to the beach? I have a 10 year old son who loves to fish off the pier, so where we stay has to have a fishing pier/kitchen/ 1 bedroom type resort. We just returned from Clearwater Beach and stayed at the Sea Captain resort, great place!!!! I just like to vacation someplace different all the time.... hope for some input!!!!!! THANKS!!!

The delacado is terrific (we jokingly call it the avacado). It is low-budget and the interiors of the apartments are very spacious but it's not the ritz. Comfortable and wonderful location on the southern end of Treasure Island, called Sunset Beach. The pool area is really cute, you're on the bay side of a one-block wide part of TI so the beach is a short walk, about five houses or so. The only problem that might not be a problem for you is that the delacado is not within walking distance to anything. So if you're looking to be in the middle of the action, look elsewhere. But a short drive (or long walk) will find you at some nearby restaurants. The Malyn I think is on Treasure Islands main beach. It looks fine but I've not checked it out.

I had a few more questions for ya tandoori girl, do you know if the Malyn is in walking distance of anything? And do you know anything about the Bay Palm resort in St. Pete Beach?? I guess walking diatnce for things will matter seeing as my husband will have the vehicle for a while to go play golf and I wouldnt want to be stranded. Or do you have any suggestions for any other places that are small and have a fishing pier/marina type location??? Thanks!!

I don't know the Bay Palms Resort. The Malyn looks fine but I've not peeked inside. If you'd rather be closer to the Gulf , you might try the Bayside Inn, also at Treasure Island, which sounds like what you're looking for. I looked at a studio there awhile back (room with fridge) but don't recall if they had apartments. The furnishings were a step above the Delacado but the Del had bigger rooms, by far. Bayside is close to the Malyn, in the heart of "downtown" Treasure Island, a cozy collection of shops and restaurants, with a grocery store and a very popular "Fun Center" both also within walking distance. IMO, an ideal place for the 10-y.o., better than traffic-ridden SPB.

Bayside Inn
11365 Gulf Boulevard Treasure Island FL 33706

Another to look into is the Best Western Sea Castle Suites. They have both beach and bayside locations across the street from each other. Probably pricier.

Another alternative is to rent some bicycles if you opt for the Delacado. There is a bicycle rental shop in SPB.

I'd go ahead and book the Malyn. The location is very good for you and I'll bet there is good fishing there. If you mapquest it, you can see that it's at the foot of the bridge, and those fishies love those piers. I would be sure to ask for a waterfront room, if you can, or at least one that is not next to the road, just to be sure that it's quiet.

There is bridge construction going on but it's further up the road. They finished on the bridge next to the Malyn last year.

Mainemom, you never know, I might be your way someday

(that's me, freezing)

Hey, Thanks Tandoori girl. I have this great web site to look at properties, its from satelite, i pop in an address and it picks up the site, so I can get a look at it, I checked the Malyn out and it looks to be right on the side of the road, which by the web site you would never even guess. Not to sure about that. The web site is www.globexplorer.com and you click on image atlas, its great!!! thanks....
