I am going to be in DC for about 5 hours in the middle of a larger trip. Because of the larger trip, I will have 2 suitcases. I'll arrive in Union Station and then be off to a meeting in a secure building where I cannot take my bags. Is there baggage storage at Union Station? If not, I guess I will need a hotel close to Union Station for my bags.

Their web site says there's concierge with baggage storage on the lower (food court) level:

I'd call and verify, since it would be lousy to get stuck. The last time I was there Amtrak provided a baggage check near Gate A, just for ticked passengers.
It is still there, but I think you need to have an Amtrak ticket to use the check.
Thanks. I am arriving on Amtrak so it sounds like I can use their check.
Yes - there's a baggage storage area near "A" platform.
I left a bag there for about 4 hours about a month ago and I think it cost $5 - $6. No-one asked me for a ticket of any description, I just checked the bag in. You will need ID.
The baggage check area is signposted in the overhead signage, and is more or less opposite the Men's toilets.
