If it is the one I'm thinking of, located right on Dupont Circle between 19th & Connecticut NW, it is in a great location, practically right on top of the metro, very safe, tons of good restaurants nearby. However, they recently took the name "Doyle" off the building and replaced it with "Jury's." Is this the one you mean? If so it has changed ownership several times in the past few years. I have never been inside but the location couldn't be better.
The Doyle is now Jury's. It's in a very nice neighborhood and only one block from a metro stop. I was in the hotel just last week, and it's quite spiffy. I live in D.C., and it's a big city, so although I walk all over that area, just be alert. About 3 blocks from Jury's is one of the neatest places in D.C. for a meal or a drink--The Tabard Inn on N St., between 17th & Connecticut. Be sure to go upstairs (the little stairs off the lobby) and see the sitting room and small dining room. For a cheap casual meal, I recommend Fuzio's on Connecticut Ave. or Teaism, which is kind of kooky. There are more good restaurants in Adams Morgan, which is about 10 blocks from your hotel.
The Metro is quite safe at any hour, and walking from the Metro to your hotel would be no problem because it's a well traveled street...
