dc hotel advice for July 4th week
I am considering the JW, Ritz Carlton (22nd ave. or pentagon city), or Omni?
I can't really explain why I picked these choices except I am looking for a somewhat nicer hotel for around $200 or less that is near a metro. I always like Ritz Carlton service however a pool would be nice. We are 2 adults and 2 kids. I am also considering Embassy Suites convention center or one of the Residence Inns for breakfast and a suite. It gets a little overwhelming. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you will be in DC on the 4th and plan to take in festivities around the Mall, I'd recommend a hotel in downtown DC (not Pentagon City) so you can get around on foot and avoid the crowds in Metro that day. View your options on a map to see their relation to the Mall. (On the downtown grid, 10 blocks equal about a mile; 20-25 minutes walking at a steady pace.)

You are sort of all over the place in your choices, from Residence Inn to the Ritz. What are the three most important things to you and let those guide your decision.
Or, conversely, just pick one and don't obsess any more about it. I've vowed to stop obsessing over whether I picked the right hotel.

Its even less for the senior rate but I am not quite there yet. So is the JW nicer than the Ritz Carlton on 22nd Avenue which is right at about $200? I do not see much mention of that hotel.

I'm not sure it really matters if the Metro is jammed and busy because it doesn't really impact your trip. Except for after the fireworks, it's not as though you will be standing on platforms watching full trains go by.
Still, the JW is very convenient.
