DC: Grand Hyatt or JW Marriott (on Pennsylvania Ave.)

We are spending 3 days in DC and wonder what your thoughts are about either of these?

Marriott is a standard business hotel in a decent location. Enormous, but no major problems, the usual as you would expect. Have not stayed in the Hyatt.

What I love about the JW Marriott is the location. It's a typical Marriott business hotel, as stated above. I, too, have not stayed at the Hyatt, so I can't give any information about it.

Frankly, that Hyatt is just as much a "standard" hotel as the Marriott although the lobby of the Marriott is a bit nicer some feel. The Marriott is more within walking distance of some sights such as the Mall, the White House, etc.

Toss-up. Both are standard business class hotels. The Grand Hyatt is closer to the Penn Quarter museums and restaurants, but only by a few blocks.

We saw the JW Marriott last week after our White House Tour and it is VERY near the sites mentioned above--if that is important to you. The lobby was very well dressed for the 4th. I can't speak to the Hyatt.
