When we were in Wailea several years ago, we tried to get a room for a day, as we had to check out of the Kea Lani and our flight was very late so we needed some place to call "home" for the day. I realize you probably just want the day room so that you can enjoy the pools, however, I think you might have to pay the full rack rate for an overnight stay. It's worth a shot, though. Give them a call. We were able to get a room at the Renaissance Wailea for I think $100 for the day, much less than their nightly rate.

I looked into this recently and found that the Grand Wailea does NOT offer a day rate. I wanted to take my grandkids to use the pools when we are on-island in May. I ended up reserving the lowest priced room for one night. Although we probably won't use the room (except to change clothes), I figure it will give us access to the pools for most of 2 days. We can use the factilities prior to and after check-out time.
It costs less than a half day cruise, and I think my tribe will enjoy it more. FYI, they allow 4 wristbands per room.

Thanks.
Good to know about the 4 wrist bands per room, too. (since there will be 7 of us!)
I'll have to check what the lowest available rate is for 2 rooms, but it might be too pricey just to enjoy a day at the pools.
