Customs & Checked Baggage at O'Hare - coming from Dublin Airport

Jump to last reply

I have a question on how the customs works at O'Hare. I will be flying American Airlines from Dublin Airport to O'Hare. I currently have a connecting flight from O'Hare through to Milwaukee, however am considering hiring a car service from O'Hare rather than taking the connection as there's a long layover.

My question is - will I be picking up my bags at O'Hare to go through customs, or will they be checked through to Milwaukee? I'm not sure if you go through customs in Dublin or back in the USA for that route. Please advise! Thank you!
