Can't get tickets to visit alcatraz. What is the best cruise line to take the one hour trip around the bay? Alcatraz excursions, Blue & Gold Fleet, etc.

For that short of a cruise, any cruise line will do.
You can also find scalped tickets online at at the wharf.
too bad you cn't get itx. It is a great tour. Did you try another day if you have another day? I wouldn't buy scalped tix. Did that once to an opera in Paris and got hosed....
There are ideas/suggestions on this thread . . .

Take the ferry to Tiburon and back. It goes closer than the Sausalito ferry. But I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone goes to Alcatraz. It probably has beautiful views of the Bay, but it looks like an abandoned factory.
I've always felt Alcatraz was very underwhelming. The ferry trip is a nice way to experience getting out on the bay.
I just got back my second trip to San Francisco last month which also included Alcatraz again. I don't think I would visit again but I have been twice. The other thing I have done twice is this http://www.adventurecat.com/. Years ago, it was recommended on here and we had a great time. So much so, I had to go again.
I've been twice and thought it was very interesting.
I second the idea to take a round trip to Tiburon. Eat at Sam's Cafe outside on the deck, and pretend you live there. Look up at the Belvedere Island and imagine the view those chi-chi houses have of SF. And you will have the same views for just the price of a ferry ride. Pick a sunny afternoon. This week you might have to pick your day carefully.
We found it very interesting, especially since we went for a night tour and it goes to several places that you don't see on day tour. Also, it got VERY eerie as it started to get dark, spooky almost.
