Crowds for Coney Island Annual Beach Opening Ceremony on the Boardwalk?

Jump to last reply

We had planned on going to Brighton Beach and Coney Island on Friday, May 27 and I just saw that this is the day of the Coney Island Annual Beach Opening Ceremony on the Boardwalk! I am reconsidering changing our date because of this to Tuesday, May 31. I don't mind crowds to a point but also want to be able to enjoy our day and get the most out of it. Would we be better off waiting and going the Tuesday after Memorial Day? We do have kids ages 10 - 16 that will want to ride a few rides and we do want to enjoy the Russian restaurants and shops in Brighton Beach.
Thanks.
