My husb and I will be in Islamorada 6/10-6/15. Trying to decide between a motel w/ no kitchen or balcony or view in Tropical Reef Resort or a cottage w/ kitchen in Coral Bay Resort. Do you need to have more than a bed while there b/c of all there is to do or is it more kick back where you might hang out at the lodge for a while or prepare your own meals??? Please advise...

How funny! We faced the same dilemma last year. We ended up going w/ Tropical Reef because it was cheaper. Although the people were very nice and we had a room w/ a fridge, you may want to go for the Coral Bay w/ kitchen. Some days you may just want to kick back and having a kitchen would be nice there. We ended up getting some fruit, snack, sodas and sandwich stuff to keep in our room. Also, we were not impressed w/ our room at Tropical Reef. We had little sugar ants everywhere if we left a glass of soda on the table (we were told that is normal and welcome to the Keys) and the carpet was very dirty! We kept our sandles on the whole time! But we did love the Keys overall and are going back this year. Good luck and have fun! Let me know which one you choose and how you like it!
