I’ve never done a solo camping roadtrip before, but in a couple of weeks, I’m planning on driving from GA to Asheville and camping at the Hemlock Campground, then driving to Shenandoah to spend the night somewhere in the park.
Part of me kind of wants to do something different for the last night (although if anyone has any can’t miss spots in the mountains of North Carolina or Virginia, I’m all ears!), so I was thinking about either heading more toward the coast of North Carolina (Outer Banks? Although that’s a pretty good drive) or somewhere else in the southern Virginia area or anywhere else in that part of the country. Small towns intrigue me as do cool, unique hikes. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!
Cool stuff in the Blue Ridge Parkway Area???

This is a good place to start - http://www.blueridgeparkway.org/ & since the Parkway is nearly 500 miles long, you may want to ask some more specific questions. The Parkway has a plethora of sites both on it & in close proximity to it. If you only have 2 days as your post suggests, you aren't going to see much, as the speed limit is 45mph Parkway wide & even lower in high density areas + there will be plenty of traffic on most any weekend. How much time do you have...for starters ?
