Convertible for Sedona/Grand Canyon
We have rented a convertible for our 8 day October Las Vegas/Sedona/Grand Canyon trip. Is it worth the extra money so we can have the top down (hopefully)while in Arizona? When we get back to Vegas the car will just be parked most of the time.

When in October? Also, do you want a convertible because you like driving with the top down or because you want to beable to look up and see the sights?
We've been in early October and had nice warm weather, which would be fine for a convertible but you might run into a thunderstorm or two like we did. I've heard that later in the month it starts to get cold.
If you want it for sightseeing then the only location you will really see any sights in the vehicle will be the canyon as you leave Las Vegas and Sedona.

Between Las Vegas and Williams, AZ the landscape is mostly grim and barren. At the Grand Canyon all the scenery is "down", so a convertible won't help you see any better. Sedona is about the only place where having the top down might buy you a better view.
Also, the South Rim of the Grand Canyon is at 7000ft. Average high temps range from 70F on October 1 to 58F on October 30. And it will be quite chilly in the morning or after dark.
