Contemplating Moving From Lex to Louisville with Kids

I'm really debating on leaving my beloved city. Originally Florida was my decision. However, I'm very close to my grandfather who is 82 and I couldn't imagine not bring able to get to him at the drop of a dime if he needed me. I go to Louisville ALL of the time and I've always loved the "small city" feel it has. Anyhow, St. Matthews and The Highlands have always been my favorite. Wondering if anyone has suggestions on elementary and high schools?! Which areas to avoid? Which areas are new developments and which are more historic? Thanks guys!

I'm confused. If you go there "ALL" the time, you should know this better than us. Real estate agents can help with locations and school information.

I'm confused, too. Did you just now remember your grandfather? Or are you daydreaming, which involves wasting the time of people who reply to your speculative threads? If the latter, then I suggest you spend some time on relocation boards and solidify your ideas before asking for general help.

What makes you think he is going to need you?

I lived in the St. Matthews area nearly 20 years ago...I liked the area but I would opt for the HIghlands if money is no object. The best school (IMHO) is Louisville Collegiate. It is private & is not cheap. I'll refrain from commenting on public schools as I am sure things have changed since I lived there....even though I have friends who still reside there today.

First of all I don't appreciate any sarcasm from any of you. There's no need to be cynical. After notifying my grandfather of the move he expressed that fact that he will be even more lonely when and if I leave. Being closer is smarter NewBe that doesnt mean I'd prefer Louisville over Tampa. I have the right to ask for as much "general help" as I please. i was very appreciative of yours regarding Tampa. For you to be on this topic is useless.

He is a widower Dukey that's why he's need me. How dare you?

Jaya, I work in promotions and usually just went to 4th street. I wasn't able to check out the city.

It's natural for a parent to have more than one option regarding relocation when it comes to a whole family. If there is "confusion" then simply move on to the next post. If you don't have anything to point out that will help with my question why bother wasting the time it takes to type your useless comments? It's not that serious, someone else will answer what you do not. When joining this site, it clearly states be specific in what you're asking (giving a relocation title as an example) so this too a "relocation forum". Geez
