Considering Turtle Bay Resort Condo rental-Pros and Cons?
Family of 5 (3 teen girls) are going to Oahu July 2010 and are interested in north shore condo or house rental w/ pool, walk to good swim/snorkel beach, some amenities, some interpersonal contact for teens. Is this a good venue? Sites we must/should see on north shore? Always appreciate Fodors contributors' advice.

We have used Olsen Villas before and will be staying there again this July. http://www.olsenvillas.com/
They offer much better rates for the ocean villas than directly through the resort itself.

In follow-up to my response from last week, we just found out that Olsen Villas is in foreclosure and out-of-business. We have rescheduled our July trip to the Big Island because of this. It's too bad because these were very nice units. There are some other 3-and-4-bedroom units at the Turtle Bay Ocean Villas rented out by other companies; however, these also may be in foreclosure or close to it. Be careful about your rental selection, and make sure to use a credit card for any deposit rather than paying by check or debit card.

Dusty:
The turtlebaycondos.com web site is temporarily disabled.
I always enjoy your posts and decided on Oahu in part based on your vigorous advocacy of it over the years. Plus, I always wanted to see the north shore.(And, we've been to most of the other islands, some a few times.) Also been to Honolulu for a short visit.
Witneycat:
We are renting from an individual owner, utilizing a licensed real estate agent as manager, we found through vrbo.com. Our deposit was paid by credit card, and we will pay the balance the same way. Nevertheless, we would not be happy to learn on short notice that our unit was not available and intend to monitor the situation. Perhaps I'll reserve something down in Waikiki just in case.
Thank you.
