hoping to take 3 little ones for a weekend beach stay, thinking of CT as its close to NYC and don't want to do jersey shore or LI.
Any ideas? Would like a hotel/motel clean nearby (doesn't have to be earth-shattering) and just a nice clean beach with some ice cream shops or food nearby.
I just read about OceanBeach Park in New London... has anyone been?
Thanks for any insights.

I haven't been to ocean beach in years, so can't comment on how it is now. There is a nice state beach called Hammonasset State Beach in Madison, CT. You get there from I-95 exit 62 go south across rt. 1. There are hotels and motels in the area and one is on the water, but I don't know anyone who has stayed there.
Oh, there is also Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme, exit 72 off 95. These have a charge to use, but have parking which is sometimes hard to find along the Connecticut shore.
I live in westport ct its an amazing but small town down in fairfield county. We have 3 beaches and they are all amazing. Compo beach is probably the best beach it has a play ground a restaurant 2 jettys and much more. The other two are berring hill beach and mill beach. mill beach is right next to compo but is much more peaceful. A graet place to stay right is the westport inn which has a great restaurant, a work out room, 2 saunas, and a indoor pool!
