Hi sf7307!
Yes, I was just going to make the same recommendation!! Thanks to sf7307, we stayed at Kaanapali Al'i two years ago. One of our best vacations ever. Couldn't ask for a more luxurious or convenient condo. I think they've done some renovations on the pool area since we visited, so it should be even better now!

Well, you asked for upscale
Kaanapali Alii and The Whaler are the only actual condo complexes on the part of Kaanapali Beach south of Black Rock. Lots of people love the Whaler (I'm not one of them). In addition to those two, there's the Hyatt, Marriott (timeshares, so there are condo-like units --- the newer villas are beautiful), the Westin hotel, Kaanapali Beach Hotel and the Sheraton.
North of Black rock ( which fronts the Sheraton), there are a Westin timeshare development (I think it's called Westin Villas) -- and I'm not sure what else. North of that, there are less expensive (and less upscale) complexes at Napili.
